Construction of the sixth apartment building in Lahekalda to begin

Merko is commencing the construction of the third stage of the Lahekalda apartment development project in Tallinn, within the framework of which one apartment building with 48 apartments will be completed at Paekalda 14 in the spring of 2022.

The Lahekalda residential district (merko.ee/lahekalda) is located on the Maarjamäe limestone bank on the border of Tallinn city centre, Pirita and Lasnamäe. The first three apartment houses in the district, which is almost 17 hectares in size and more than 40 metres above sea level, have been completed, and the two buildings of the second phase will be completed by the end of 2021. The total volume of the development project is upwards of 25 new apartment buildings with more than one thousand apartments to be completed over the next ten years.

The sizes of the one- to four-roomed apartments in the B-energy class apartment building to be constructed at Paekalda 14 range from 30 to 93 square metres. The apartments are located on the second to fifth floors of the building, with storage rooms and sheltered parking spaces on the first floor. The building has a lift, and almost all the apartments have balconies or loggias. The courtyards of the Lahekalda residential district will be landscaped and equipped with children’s playgrounds and recreation areas. The yard area will include parking spaces, and all roads within the quarter will be fully developed.

The proximity of the Pirita health trails and sea promenade adds value to the rapidly developing neighbourhood. In the later stages of the development project, a retail centre with small shops, service spaces and a kindergarten will be built in the district. The city of Tallinn is planning to build a health centre and the new Tallinn Hospital near Lahekalda.
