The builder of the year 2016 is Tarmo Pohlak, Project Director of AS Merko Ehitus Eesti
Estonian Association of Construction Entrepreneurs awarded Tarmo Pohlak, the Project Director of AS Merko Ehitus Eesti with the Builder of the Year 2016 award for the construction of Hilton Tallinn Park hotel.
„According to the jury, the winner of the Builder of the Year 2016 competition stood out not only for the complexity of the project and high quality of work, but also for the impeccable teamwork and work ethic,“ said Indrek Peterson, the managing director of the Estonian Association of Construction Entrepreneurs and the chairman of the jury for the Builder of the Year award 2016.
The Hilton Tallinn Park Hotel is an outstanding five-star hotel in Tallinn with 14 storeys and 202 rooms. The lower four-storey part accommodates a hotel lobby, casino, a 720-seat conference centre, SPA, restaurant and ancillary rooms. The hotel’s 176-seat restaurant is approximately 13 metres from street level. The SPA and restaurant have a landscaped open-air terrace with a catering and lounge area.
The goal of the Builder of the Year competition 2016 announced by the Estonian Association of Construction Entrepreneurs was to select the construction project manager whose work has been recognized by the contracting entity as well as by the architect, structural engineer and person in charge of construction supervision. The aim of the initiative is to promote the profession and recognize the best in the field. The competition was held for the eighth time and there were 7 nominees this year.
