If we have the chance to make something better, we give in to the temptation — and do it.

We believe long-term effort creates more value than one-time initiatives.

We focus on Merko’s long-term collaborations and professional partners.

We don’t aim for everything. Our support activities focus on five key areas.

The Merko Group’s companies and majority shareholders contribute approximately EUR 1 million each year to community support activities.

  • Every step builds health

Merko’s largest long-term support project is Estonian Health Trails, launched in 2005 together with Swedbank and Enefit. Across Estonia, there are 130 well-maintained trails that offer people the chance to take care of their health year-round, free of charge, while enjoying the outdoors. By promoting an active lifestyle, we help increase the number of healthy years lived by the people of Estonia.

  • The light whispers in Old Town

In 2019, Tallinn’s medieval Old Town walls and towers received a modern lighting solution that brings them to life after dark. The lighting system was designed and built by Merko, with funding provided by Kapitel. As you stroll through the Old Town, you can discover newly illuminated walking paths, listen to fascinating and mystical stories about the city’s history through the audio guide, and admire the craftsmanship of builders from centuries past.

Movement and rest make life better. They lift your mood, support your health and help you live well for longer.

We are the initiator and long-term supporter of the Estonian Health Trails project, which offers free exercise opportunities to people across Estonia.

For 20 years, we’ve helped create opportunities for movement and built infrastructure across Estonia that is accessible and open to everyone. By staying active, we invest in quality of life — not just for today, but for tomorrow too.

Next to Merko apartment buildings, we create versatile spaces for movement and exercise — encouraging shared activities with family and neighbours and inspiring people to take care of their health.

Exercising close to home saves time and adds value to the neighbourhood.

Why do we support?

“Every kilometre in fresh air — walking, running, cycling or skiing — is an investment in your health. Nature trails are the most affordable gym: always open, no membership fee. A healthy mind in a healthy body — see you on the trails!”
