If we have the chance to make something better, we give in to the temptation — and do it.

We believe long-term effort creates more value than one-time initiatives.

We focus on Merko’s long-term collaborations and professional partners.

We don’t aim for everything. Our support activities focus on five key areas.

The Merko Group’s companies and majority shareholders contribute approximately EUR 1 million each year to community support activities.

  • Every step builds health

Merko’s largest long-term support project is Estonian Health Trails, launched in 2005 together with Swedbank and Enefit. Across Estonia, there are 130 well-maintained trails that offer people the chance to take care of their health year-round, free of charge, while enjoying the outdoors. By promoting an active lifestyle, we help increase the number of healthy years lived by the people of Estonia.

  • The light whispers in Old Town

In 2019, Tallinn’s medieval Old Town walls and towers received a modern lighting solution that brings them to life after dark. The lighting system was designed and built by Merko, with funding provided by Kapitel. As you stroll through the Old Town, you can discover newly illuminated walking paths, listen to fascinating and mystical stories about the city’s history through the audio guide, and admire the craftsmanship of builders from centuries past.

Fine arts and creativity — whether looking to the past or future — broaden our horizons and help make Estonia greater.

Culture deserves opportunities

We support cultural projects that help us to understand our past, capture the present moment, and open up new perspectives and opportunities for the future shapers of Estonian culture.

We support projects at the Art Museum of Estonia to help preserve and highlight Estonia’s cultural heritage. Our involvement includes construction work, such as the installation of the tower lift in the Niguliste Museum, as well as the restoration of the museum’s iconic artworks and the development of new exhibition solutions.

We are proud to support the return of the Klassikatähed (Classical Stars) competition to the stage, creating opportunities for young performers. Their brilliance enriches today’s audiences and lays the foundation for the next generation of Estonian music.

Valuing culture and artistic heritage

Niguliste Museum lift

We took part in the creation of the tower lift at the Niguliste Museum as both a technical consultant and a financial supporter. The lift makes previously inaccessible views also available to visitors with reduced mobility.
