We Contribute to Society
To support Estonia’s future, we collaborate in five key areas – enriching urban spaces, creating opportunities for recreational sports, valuing cultural and artistic heritage, championing education and nurturing future generations, and helping those in need. The companies within the Merko group and its majority shareholders contribute approximately one million euros annually to support initiatives in all five areas.
We Develop Urban Spaces
Through Merko homes, we create innovative new living environments. The buildings we construct enrich urban spaces, while our infrastructure projects make everyday life more convenient. To enhance our surroundings, we have illuminated Tallinn’s city wall and towers, introduced artworks into public spaces and designed park areas that bring new and diverse functions to Merko’s residential developments.
We Support Healthy Living
Every step contributes to health. Through our support, new sports facilities and opportunities that are accessible to people with different mobility needs are being created across Estonia. As the founder and long-term supporter of Estonian Health Trails, we are committed to continuing the development of exercise trails nationwide, helping Estonians stay healthy as they grow older.
We Value the Arts
We hold Estonia’s and the world’s artistic heritage in high regard and support initiatives that promote cultural and artistic diversity. Since constructing KUMU in 2006, we have supported various activities of the Art Museum of Estonia. Among other projects, we have helped the Niguliste Museum install a tower lift and complete the conservation of the retable of the high altar.
We Inspire Future Generations
We support universities in training skilled engineers and contribute to the advancement of construction knowledge by participating in various innovation and research projects. The Merko Future Talents programme starts with kindling a passion for engineering among our employees’ children, continues with scholarships for students and lecturers, and helps interns grow into accomplished professionals.
We Help Where Help is Needed
We collaborate with strong partners who require our professional expertise or have a clear vision of a charitable cause. Making sure that aid reaches those who need it most is important to us – whether that is by shaping the future of the construction sector through the Green Tiger project or donating household appliances to large families in cooperation with Do Good.
