Renovation of Nordic Hotel Forum set to begin
Today, 24 September, we signed a construction contract for the renovation of a city centre hotel on Viru Square.
The building, built by Merko in 2007, belongs to Kapitel Group-owned OÜ Veeilu and the hotel is operated by Nordic Hotels. It will re-open in spring 2021.
All 267 hotel rooms and common areas will be refitted and the hotel will gain a new luxury suite and restaurant. The renovation project is by interior architecture office of Artaku, and the interior architects are Kaire Kemp-Tišler and Ea Andla.
Member of the management board of Merko Ehitus Eesti Jaan Mäe said at the signing: “Renovating a building that we ourselves built is a good contract from a builder’s perspective. We know this building and its particularities well, and we are able to provide comprehensive advice that will ensure that the customer’s desires and needs get the most efficient solution.”
Member of the management board of Nordic Hotels, Feliks Mägus, also commented: “As the operator, Nordic Hotels has a high regard for cooperation with Kapitel, with whom the renovation project is being carried out. We will also procure technological solutions that will make the entire customer journey as contactless as possible during the post-virus period,” Mägus said.
Kapitel management board chairman Taavi Ojala said: “A very important part of the Kapitel real estate management portfolio is the consistent development of products and services in existing buildings with the aim of maintaining their competitiveness on the market and compatibility with tenants’ needs. The renovation of Nordic Hotel Forum has been in the planning for some time at Kapitel and from a business perspective it is wise to make good use of the low period in the tourism sector for doing renovation works. We continue to see the hotel’s great location in downtown Tallinn as a big advantage and believe that the hotel industry will recover,” said Ojala.
