Narva-Jõesuu beach area development and reconditioning works completed by Merko
Friday, 4 July, saw the festive opening of Narva-Jõesuu promenade. The Narva-Jõesuu beach area development and reconditioning works also included the renovation of the public urban space bordering on the beach of one of the most renowned summer resorts of Estonia. The works were performed by the consortium of AS Merko Infra and AS Merko Ehitus Eesti.
The works included the reconstruction of Aia Street, the street closest to the sea, in its entire length of 1.6 km. A new road structure with bituminous concrete surface was designed and constructed in accordance with requirements and a new paved pedestrian walkway was built alongside it. Nearly 3 km of boardwalks, terraces, and resting and grilling spots were built along the first dune of the beach. New beach facilities (dressing cubicles, benches, waste bins, activity equipment, etc.) and public toilets were erected and the water supply and sewerage system was extended to the beach area.
In addition, a total of 128 car parking spaces were reconstructed and constructed, new traffic signs were installed and new road surface markings were drawn. The reconstruction of the street lighting of Aia Street included the replacement of cable lines and the installation of new lighting posts with modern lights and floodlights to light the beach. The reconstruction of the Pargi Street parking lot included the construction of new pedestrian walkways with ramps for the disabled. The overgrown park was reinstated and park lighting with power supply points for pavilions and events was installed.
