High acclaim from the Ministry of Defence

The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Estonia has recognized individuals and organizations who have contributed in a professional capacity to the development of national defence in Estonia. Among others, a silver chest pin was bestowed on Merko Ehitus Eesti project manager Martin Sigus.

“The most valuable contributors to the defence of our country are our people and it is my honour to recognize and thank so many people who have through their everyday work contributed to the progress of national defence,” said Minister of Defence Hanno Pevkur at a ceremony honouring nearly 200 individuals and organizations.

Martin Sigus was awarded the chest pin for his significant achievements for national defence in the form of the construction activity at the barracks on the Ämari Air Base. Under the contract concluded in late October 2023, new lodging facilities including all essential internal and external utilities will be completed on the base.

Merko has also performed construction at Ämari in the past in 2010, a renovated traffic area was completed at the Air Base and in 2018, a barracks building.
