Construction of St John’s School building to start soon
Merko Ehitus Eesti and Püha Johannese Koolikoda signed a construction agreement for the construction of a new school building in Tallinn. Under the agreement, a school building with one above-ground and one underground floor will be built in Nõmme, at Kivimäe 25, which will become a new home for St John’s School.
The new building for St John’s School has been designed by SKAD Arhitektid OÜ. The complex contains traditional school premises – classrooms, sports facilities, a library, café and canteen – as well as a campus chapel, kindergarten and hobby school, and the articulated building is located in a natural forest environment. The noble and timeless design of the building is based on the school’s Christian identity and its special location in the Nõmme pine forest. Close contact with nature is the keyword of the project in both form and content.
All necessary roads, sports and playgrounds will be built around the school. Trees and their natural undergrowth will be preserved on the property as much as possible – public sports and recreation areas have been carefully planned in places without valuable vegetation. A ceremonial flag square and parking areas will be erected in front of the main façade of the building next to Kivimäe Street.
The construction of St John’s School building will be completed in the summer of 2022.
