Construction begins on second phase of south-eastern border infrastructure
Today, 25 May, the Police and Border Guard Board concluded a contract with AS Merko Ehitus Eesti and GRK Infra AS, which will begin carrying out the design and construction of the second stage of the south-eastern border infrastructure together.
Construction on sections 4–6 of the south-eastern border of the Republic of Estonia include the construction of border infrastructure along a 34.7-kilometre section of the border in Võru County. Construction of the border segment will begin in the Village of Tserebi, on the southern shore of Lake Vanigõjärv, and end in the Village of Võmmorski.
The contract is valued at approximately EUR 15.8 million, plus VAT. The leading partner in the execution of the works is AS Merko Ehitus Eesti, and the deadline for the completion of construction works is April 2025.
AS Merko Ehitus Eesti and GRK Infra AS are also building the first stage of the south-eastern border together, during the course of which the border infrastructure along a 23.5-kilometre section of the border – at the point where the borders of Estonia, Latvia and Russia meet, and continuing on to the village of Tserebi – will be completed in April 2023.
