Merko builds two apartment buildings incorporating smart-house concepts
Merko has launched construction of two apartment buildings with a warm and cosy ambience at Vana-Kalamaja 31/Suur-Laagri 2. Featuring personality galore and a smart-house concept, they will be ready for move-in this autumn.
“As a neighbourhood, Kalamaja is held in high regard by home buyers, and we’ve planned two cosy apartment buildings featuring the architecture typical of the area. Besides good location, the flats feature smart-home concepts, allowing the utilities and living environment to be controlled from a smartphone or tablet computer,” said Merko Ehitus Eesti residential construction division director Tiit Kuusik.
The three-storey buildings to be built on the corner of Vana-Kalamaja 31 /Suur-Laagri 2 each have six flats and two commercial units in the look-out basement. The fact that the third-floor apartments are under a sloping roof gives them a personal touch, each apartment has a spacious loggia or balcony. The area between the two buildings is designed to be a private yard area including parking spaces and a pleasant recreational area. The buildings were designed by architect Paavo Kais; the interior architects were Eerik Olle and Ahti Peetersoo. Apartment owners can choose from four finishing plans. The average price per square metre will be approximately 2,500 euros, and about 1,650 euros for the commercial spaces.
The buildings are situated on quiet streets, a 10-minute walk from the Old Town and downtown area and the central railway station. Shops, schools and nursery schools are located nearby. The proximity of the sea, Seaplane Harbour museum and the Culture Kilometre promenade is an additional sweetener.
