The main task of the concrete works department is to offer solutions for buildings and structures made of precast or cast-in-situ concrete, which are built by units of Merko Ehitus Eesti as well as external contractors. The concrete work department employs over 120 people, who perform construction and assembly of concrete floors and reinforced concrete slab structures.
The aim of the concrete works department is to manage, carry out and deliver to the client with an acceptable price and quality and in due time the concrete carcases of a building or structure.
Noteworthy projects in the field of civil engineering work include the Loo-Maardu overpass, the tunnels for Ülemiste junction, and the Põhjaranna road overpass. With regard to energy generation infrastructure, the most extensive concrete work was performed in laying the foundations for the Iru plant’s waste-to-energy unit, the Kiisa backup power plant and Paldiski wind turbines. Buildings that should be mentioned include the SEB Bank headquarters, the Postimees and Sampo Bank building, the addition to Stockmann department store including parking garage, the Lelle 22 office building, Piima 4 parking garages, Radisson SAS hotel, Kentmanni 6 office and residential building, Tondiraba ice rink and Hilton Tallinn Park Hotel.
